Helping 4-legged Friends Survive the Storm
Follow the link to view the entiire video on your computer.

"Helping Four-Legged Friends" covers many issues raised by the impact of disaster on animals, such as evacuating with pets and how to reconnect large animals and owners. The video focuses on animal issues in which Extension played a key role in Broward County, Florida during Hurricane Andrew. Counties in Florida have a defined Emergency Support Function (ESF) specifically for animal issues in emergency. The practical examples given in this video provide guidance to anyone concerned with a coordinated response to the needs of animals in disaster.

The Disaster Handbook
350+ fact sheets and other publications cover virtually every aspect of disaster preparation and recovery.

Pet owners note... The ‘Noah’s Ark Effect’
If you have several pets, be sure to plan in advance how to transport them all. Will they all fit in your vehicle in their carriers and their disaster kits and other gear, or should you be considering plans to include other family or friends who can help transport?
